Importing Data
Importing from
ACT! or GoldMine
Existing information
may be imported into SalesLogix from ACT! or GoldMine. The ACT!
versions that are supported are Version 2.0 (Single User or Multi-user),
Version 3.0.6 (Single User or Multi-user) and Version 3.0.7 (Single
User or Multi-user). Multiple versions of GoldMine for Windows are
also supported.
Predefined import
maps exist for each of the supported imports. These import maps
may be modified to accommodate the import of all existing information.
To perform these modifications, select the option in the SalesLogix
import Wizard which allows changes to be made to the selected import
map.
Importing from
a Flat File
Field Mapping
Flat-File Import
of Multiple Contacts
The SalesLogix Import
Wizard that was released with Version 2.1x can automatically handle
the importing of multiple contacts for a single account. You should
first select your input table (this is the flat file that contains
the information to be imported) and make sure that you denote if
the contact and address records are in the same input table as the
account records. You may skip the Table Mapping steps if Account,
Contact, Address and Notes/History are the only tables of information
that you will be importing. Then, follow the basic field mapping
steps below to successfully import these records. When the field
mapping is complete, follow the rest of the import wizard steps
and click <Import> in the final step to begin importing the data.
Table name: ACCOUNT
1) Drag-and-drop any
fields that should be imported into the fields listed in the ACCOUNT
table.
2) Click <Next>
when done.
Table name: ACCOUNT
ADDRESS

fields that should be imported into the fields listed in the ACCOUNT
ADDRESS table.

field when done mapping all other fields. Click the icon in the
middle of the two windows with the blue asterisk to open the "Field
Map Properties" dialog and set the field map properties.
• Name the field map
(ex: Accnt_ISPRIMARY_True)
• Click <Add> to
set the properties of the value.
• In the "Value Properties"

3) Click <Next>
when done to proceed with the field mapping.
Table Name: CONTACT

fields that should be imported into the fields listed in the CONTACT
table.
2) Make sure that a
field is mapped to ACCOUNT or the account/company name will not
appear in the hyper-link of the Contact Detail View.
3) If you only have
one field containing name information - instead of the 3 required
by the SalesLogix structure - map this single name field to both
FIRSTNAME and LASTNAME. (It can also be mapped to MIDDLENAME if
that information is required).
4) Expand the LASTNAME
field until its field map name is visible.
• Double-click this
field map name to edit its properties.
• From the drop-down
list of Functions, select "Lastname" and click <Okay>.
• Click <Okay> to
save these properties.
5) Edit the properties
of the FIRSTNAME field map in the same manner, but select "Firstname"
from the drop-down list of functions instead of "Lastname".
6) Click <Next>
when done.

ADDRESS
